Bhante Kassapa carries out Prison Ministry to the Buddhist inmates of the Federal Penitentiary located in Beaumont TX. His visitation days are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month. The visitation consists of a meditation time, chanting service, dharma discussion, instruction and walking meditation. Visitations are approximately 2 hours in length.

On the Last meditation night of the year The members of the meditation group will sponsor an Ice Cream Making party and fireworks at the temple. Everyone is invited. Come and enjoy ringing out the old year.

Meditation class meets from 7:00pm to 8:30, with refreshments, green tea, cookies, popcorn or whatever goodies anyone brings. All are welcome. classes are by donation only, no fees are charged. Beginners welcome.

Buu Mon Temple Kathina and High Ordination and 2nd Annual Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival

Kathina {new robe ceremony} will be celebrated at Buu Mon Temple on 28 Oct 2007, The High ordination for Bhante Kassapa is scheduled for 12:30 Sunday afternoon. There will be a large turnout for the Kathina and High Ordination as the Bamboo Festival is held at the same time. & Americans will take the precepts and officially become Buddhist followers and well as the temporary ordination of the 3 Americans, 2 as novice monks and 1 as a novice nun. The meditation class at Buu Mon Temple will sponsor 2 booths, one craft and the other food. Please come and help support the Temple and attend the events. The 2nd Annual Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival will be held on both the 27th and the 28th. The Texas Bamboo Society is a strong Supporter of the temple efforts to bring the bamboo culture to this part of Texas.

Kathina Celebration and High Ordination Ceremony

The New Robes Ceremony or Kathina celebration is offered each year at the end of the traditional rainy seasons retreat. This year at Buu Mon Buddhist Temple there will also be a Bikkhu Ordination of Bhante Kassapa into the Vietnamese Community of monks. Public is invited free of charge.
